Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | A smartphone contact detection system is used to prevent new coronavirus infection (COVID-19). This system uses the Received Signal Strength Indicators (RSSI) of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), which is a short-range wireless communication technology, to estimate possibility of contact. There are some issues with the detecting accuracy. One of them is that the RSSI changes greatly depending on the terminal holding method. The other is the communication range of BLE which changes depending on the environment and system parameters. The signal may be received even in a situation that devices are separated by a wall. In order to detect the possibility of contact, it is important to confirm the propagation condition of radio waves. In this report, the RSSI is measured in the actual environment with obstacles using the smartphone application developed for the research, and the possibility of contact detection is discussed. |
