Study on Responsibility Inference Technology for Deployment Failure of Container Application

Abstract(in English) In recent years, container virtualization technology has become popular. Utilizing this technology, it is easy for users to deploy and use applications provided by developers in their own environment. However, application deployment may fail due to various factors. When failure happens, users need to decide whether asking developers for help or trying to solve the problem by themselves. Basically, it depends on the attribution of the failure, whether this failure comes from a bug in application or environment’s incompatibility. However, in real cases, both application side and environment side knowledge is required to determine a failure’s attribution. This is not easy task for application users. In this paper, we propose a new method to infer the responsibility of container application’s deployment failure. This method is based on features created from environmental information and text analysis on error logs.
