Abstract(in English) | This paper proposes a superposition coding-based non-orthogonal hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) method with adaptive power allocation to the non-orthogonally multiplexed packets by instantaneous channel-dependent multi-stage decisions. In the non-orthogonal HARQ method based on super position coding, retransmission packets are multiplexed with the next initial packet to reduce the throughput loss due to the exclusive bandwidth allocation to the retransmission packets in the conventional method. However, if this method is used in a fixed manner regardless of the channel state, inter-packet interference cannot be eliminated satisfactorily under a poor instantaneous channel condition, and throughput may deteriorate. The proposed method switches the power allocation to the multiplexed packets according to the measured instantaneous channel state. In particular, when the channel state is very poor, the retransmission mode falls back into the conventional orthogonal retransmission by allocating all power to the retransmission packet, which alleviates the throughput loss. The computer simulation results show that the proposed method can improve the throughput performance compared to the cases where orthogonal or non-orthogonal retransmissions are used in a fixed manner. |
