Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) E-sports, which is defined as a name when a match with computer games or video games is regarded as a sports competition, has been actively spread mainly overseas such as the United States, South Korea, and so on. In recent years, it has also become popular and has begun to spread rapidly in Japan. It is reported that the domestic market is expected to reach about 10 billion yen in 2022. It is adopted as a cultural program in the 2019 Ibaraki National Sports Festival. In addition, local governments are also actively hosting e-sports events in anticipation of economic effects. Especially, due to the influence of COVID-19, outdoor activities and activities with a large number of people are restricted. In such a situation, everyone regardless of age or sex can enjoy e-sports, because there is no restriction on place or time for players and there is no need to contact with other players. Therefore, it is expected that e-sports will become established as a new style of sports in the future. In order to meet such social needs, Kanagawa Institute of Technology has decided to launch an "e-sports project". In this paper, we will introduce the concept of the "e-sports research center", which is the pillar of the project, and describe how to be involved in e-sports in each research field including networks.
