Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In order to prevent traffic accidents between pedestrians and vehicles, it will be effective to introduce a vehicle-to-pedestrian warning system. The system detects collisions between pedestrians and vehicles in advance, and sends warning to pedestrians and vehicles by taking time into account so that they can safely avoid the accident. This time is named prior notification time, and the difference between the prior notification time and the time to accident is named warning error. The location estimation error and the update interval of the location estimation will affect the appropriate prior notification time. In this paper, several accident patterns are assumed, and the warning error is calculated for various vehicle speeds and for various location estimation errors by simulation. As the results, the location estimation error mostly affects the warning error in the accident pattern “encounter” at low vehicle speed, and there are many cases where a vehicle detects a pedestrian later than the prior notification time.
