Transmission Characteristics of 28-GHz Band Analog Radio over Fiber Employing Single-Mode/Multi-Mode VCSEL

Abstract(in English) In 28-GHz band, we would have many radio-wave signal insensitive areas due to shadowing effect by building walls. Radio over fiber, which relays RF signals, is expected to solve the problem. Analog radio over multi-mode fiber (A-RoMMF) employing multi-mode fiber and directly modulated vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) has been studied. Compared to multi-mode VCSEL, single-mode VCSEL could improve transmission characteristics by reducing chromatic dispersion. In this study, we evaluate the effect on the transmission characteristics of A-RoMMF.
