Abstract(in English) | Applications such as video streaming and automated driving require low latency communication. The traffic in these applications can be classified according to bandwidth and latency requirements, and we can improve the QoE if we can control each of them satisfying their requirements. However, congestion control for low latency communication is difficult to control according to the requirements in order to treat the traffic fairly, while conventional bandwidth control causes queuing delay due to the wireless network where the communication state changes easily. In this paper, we propose ABC slicing, a method that enables per-traffic bandwidth control while minimizing queuing delay. We focus on Accelerate-Brake Control (ABC), which determines the optimal congestion window according to the queuing delay and available bandwidth. Based on the virtual link capacity defined for each allocated class, we calculate the congestion window size of the traffic of each class and enforce the control by overwriting this information to the TCP receiving window size on the middlebox. Since the calculation of the target rate in ABC is linear in relation to the link capacity, we can achieve flexible slicing and suppress the overall queuing delay by controlling ABC according to the bandwidth to be allocated in each slice. We evaluate the proposed method using real mobile tracing. We show that the proposed method can reduce the queuing delay by 78% by allocating the same amount of bandwidth to flows that are not bandwidth-intensive compared to conventional bandwidth control. |
