Abstract(in English) | Graded-index plastic optical fibers (GI POFs) are promising optical cables for indoor applications because of their safety, flexibility, and high bandwidths. Recently, we demonstrated that GI POF has intrinsic noise reduction effect due to strong mode coupling that is closely related to microscopic heterogeneous properties of the core material. The recent progress of high-bandwidth and low-noise GI POF technology for the upcoming 8K and 5G era is described. |
