Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Silicon(Si) photonics technologies have been promising to increase the bandwidth density of the on-board data links while maintaining low power consumption of the system within datacenters. For connecting Si photonics chips to conventional single-mode fibers efficiently, polymer-tapered-waveguide-based spot-size-converters(SSCs) have been proposed. In this paper, the Mosquito method is applied as a fabrication method, which features an ability to fabricate graded index cores by the monomer interdiffusion. The mode-field-diameter (MFD) variation caused by the monomer diffusion is theoretically investigated to find the optimum fabrication conditions for an SSC. Then, based on the calculated conditions, a low-loss and subminiature SSC is experimentally fabricated by using the Mosquito method. |
