Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Skilled pitchers show common and individually different motion features. In contrast, common and individually different motion features unclear how these features depend on motion effort. The current study investigates how motion effort affects common and individually different motion features in skilled motions. We measured electromyographic (EMG) activities in pitching motions at three effort levels (i.e., 50%, 80%, and 100% effort), or three levels of fastball velocity. Besides, by utilizing tensor decomposition and principal component analysis, we found two dimensions regarding the effort-dependence in skilled pitching. One dimension separates 50% from the higher effort, while another dimension separates 80% from 100% effort. In the dimension to separate 50% from the higher effort, there were consistent tendencies across the subjects. On the other hand, in the dimension to separate 80% from 100% effort, there were a few consistent tendencies. In sum, we found that the effort dependence of multiple time-varying EMG activity data can be discussed in two-dimensional space.
