Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In recent years, network architecture called ICN (Information-Centric Networking), which mainly focuses on contents transmitted in the network rather than on end hosts as in conventional TCP/IP network, has attracted much attention. A fluid model describing the dynamics of ICN transport protocols has been utilized for designing and evaluating ICN transport protocols. In such ICN fluid model, several components of the network (i.e., content consumers, routers, and content providers) are modeled as continuous-time systems whose inputs/outputs are incoming/outgoing rates of request and response packets. Design and performance evaluation of large-scale ICNs require fluid models, which must be scalable in terms of the network size and the number of contents exchanged in the network. In the literature, a scalable flow-level simulator for TCP/IP networks called FSIM (Fluid-based SIMulator) has been proposed. However, to the best of our knowledge, a flow-level simulator for large-scale ICNs still does not exist. In this paper, we design a flow-level simulator for ICNs called FICNSIM (Fluid-based ICN SIMulator), which numerically solves a set of continuous-time differential equations. We also present several preliminary results examining the simulation accuracy of FICNSIM for small-scale networks.
