Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Acquisition and estimation of topologies of large-scale evolving networkssuch as communication networks and social networks are not trivial becauseof their scale, complexity, and dynamics. In general, the topology of acommunication network can be represented as a graph composed of manyvertices and edges. A network topology estimation problem can be formulatedas a graph topology estimation problem with limited knowledge on the graph. Network topology estimation problems include a range of variants dependingon the data available, constraints, and the objective function. Networktopology estimation problems can be classified into two categories: directand indirect. In indirect network topology estimationproblems, only information regarding the network topology to be estimated isknown. In this paper, we propose an indirect network topology estimationmethod called TOPFLOW (network TOPology inference from FLOW sets), which estimates the topology of a network from the limited number of flowsets observed at measurement nodes in the network. Also, we extensivelyinvestigate the effectiveness of TOPFLOW through a number of experimentswith diverse networks with different structures and scales. Our findingsinclude that the estimation accuracy grows almost linearly as the ratio ofmeasurement nodes increases in several network topologies. |
