Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Some previous studies have shown that the direction of microsaccades coincides with the direction of visual attention, while the others have claimed that there is no causality between them. In order to elucidate a relationship between the direction of attention and microsaccade, an experimental method that eliminates the top-down element seems to be more appropriate. In this study, we conducted an experiment to induce bottom-up attention shifts in response to light stimuli presented in the peripheral ?eld at random times to clarify the causal relationship between the direction of microsaccades and the direction of attention. We found a rightward bias in the direction of microsaccades, and no clear causal relationship with the direction of attention was identi?ed. These results suggest that bottom-up attention has no e?ect on the direction of microsaccades. |
