Abstract(in English) With the development of wireless communication technology, Ad-hoc networks using direct communication links between wireless nodes have grown in popularity. AODV is a popular Ad-hoc protocol for wireless networks. However, the AODV protocol generates an unnecessarily high number of control packets that are wasteful under networks with high node density or widely distributed. In this paper, we propose a modified version of the AODV protocol that is suitable for both high node density networks and networks widely distributed. Our proposal implements a variable neighbor discovery range. Our simulations demonstrate that this adjustment allows AODV to decrease the number of control packets in the network (overhead) while reducing the delay in the route discovery process.
