Multi-user MIMO coordinated with user-wise joint transmit-receive diversity using linear antenna array at BS

Abstract(in English) Multi-user MIMO spatial multiplexing has been recognized as an indispensable technique to significantly improve the spectrum efficiency. On the other hand, spatial diversity has long been recognized an indispensable technique to mitigate the multipath fading effect and to improve the signal transmission quality. Recently, we introduced user-wise diversity into multi-user MIMO spatial multiplexing. Then, we extended our study to introduce user-wise joint transmit-receive diversity to both BS and user side. In these studies, uncorrelated fading among BS antennas was assumed. In this paper, we introduce the linear array antenna to BS and study a multi-user MIMO coordinated with user-wise joint transmit-receive diversity. Diversity weight vectors at BS and users are derived and the achievable link capacity is evaluated by Monte-Carlo numerical method to discuss the relationship between multi-user MIMO coordinated with user-wise joint transmit-receive diversity and that with multi-user MIMO beamforming.
