Abstract(in English) We have proposed temperature and strain sensors based on cascaded chirped long period fiber gratings (C-CLPGs), which are specific long-period fiber gratings (LPGs), and have demonstrated a highly sensitive and a highly precise sensing technique for their sensor applications. In this paper, eight kinds C-CLPGs are prepared by inscribing a pair of CLPGs with two different grating periods, each spaced at four different cascade distance, and their optical frequency-shift sensitivity of these transmission channeled spectra to the longitudinal strain is investigated. As a result, it is confirmed that the sensitivity depended mainly on the ordinal number of the cladding mode m, with the higher order being the more sensitive to the strain.
