| 抄録(和) | ヒトの瞳孔径は, 外界の輝度変化に応じて変化するだけでなく, 暗算課題などの認知負荷に対しても応答することが知られている. 近年では, 英単語の/l/と/r/の聞き取り可否と瞳孔応答の関係性が明らかにされ, 学習者の瞳孔反応を指標とした新たな学習評価法の可能性が示唆されている. 本研究では, 第2言語習得過程で必須となる単語学習時の瞳孔応答を評価し, 瞳孔を指標とした英単語理解度判定の可能性を検討することを目的とした. ここでは, 新出英単語黙視時の瞳孔応答を, 学習前, 中, 後で比較した. 特に, 学習後のテストで正解した単語と不正解だったものに着目し, 評価した. その結果, ①テスト時の正誤に関わらず, 学習中と学習後では, 学習前に比べ有意に大きな散瞳が見られ, ②テスト時および学習時には, 不正解だった単語において正解だったものに比べ有意に大きな散瞳が見られた. これらの結果は, 従来の英単語理解度評価法である筆記試験を行わなくても, 瞳孔応答から学習者の英単語習得評価が行える可能性を示唆している． |
| 抄録(英) | It has been known that the pupil of the human eye responds not only to changes in brightness, but also those in cognitive tasks such as mental arithmetic. A recent study reported that pupillary dilation reflects one’s ability to discriminate English sounds /l/ and /r/. The result suggests that pupillary responses may be used to evaluate leaner's listening comprehension. In the present study, we evaluated pupillary responses during second language (L2) vocabulary learning which is one of the requirements in L2 acquisition. We performed two kinds of comparisons on pupillary responses in total of 9 English learners: ① when silently reading new L2 words in pre-, during, and post-learning phases, ② successfully memorized words and unsuccessful ones after learning new L2 words. As the results, significantly different pupillary responses (dilatation) were observed in both comparisons. These results suggest that quantitative observation of pupillary responses may replace or be employed in parallel with traditional vocabulary tests to make L2 vocabulary learning more efficient. |
