[Short Paper] Semantic structurization of geotagged tweets for real-world information retrieval

Abstract(in English) Twitter is a useful source for retrieving up-to-date information about the real-world. This paper proposes a method, for providing Twitter users’ observations at different places of interest (PoI) in the real-world in a structurized way by considering their semantic relations. The proposed method firstly extracts geotagged tweets containing words representing PoIs as the observations at the corresponding PoIs. Since the tweets extracted by the same words can be the observations at multiple PoIs, they are clustered based on their geotags so that the tweets in each cluster would correspond to the observations of a single PoI. Then, the semantics of each PoI is estimated from its observations to examine the semantic relations among PoIs. Finally,closely located semantically similar PoIs are merged as the observations at a unique PoI, which is represented by different words such as their aliases.
