Abstract(in English) | The combination of internet of things (IoT) with edge computing will open a new era to monitor crops. An efficient IoT system can not only save costs, but also maximize agricultural production. In this paper, we develop a multi-modal crop monitoring system by utilizing the latest edge computing technology. Through the proposed system, we successfully move the entire process of image recognition and sensor data collection to edge devices. In the proposed system, real-time image data can be collected from a camera and the degree of fruit maturity can be identified without Internet. In addition, the data of sensors can be captured in real-time to clearly know the environmental factors of agricultural products. Comparing with cloud computing systems, the proposed system can reduce latency and improve data security. |
