Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Space division multiplexing (SDM) over multi-core fibers (MCFs) is advocated as a promising technology to overcome the capacity limit of the current single-core optical networks. However, the fragmentation of the spectrum in flexible-grid networks decreases the efficiency of the spectrum utilization. Moreover, the inter-core crosstalk (XT) in MCFs causes non-negligible signal impairment, which occurs whenever optical signals with overlapping spectra are transmitted in adjacent cores of an MCF. To enhance the maximum network capacity affected by spectrum utilization efficiency and the impact of inter-core crosstalk, a routing, core and spectrum assignment (RCSA) algorithm based on reinforcement learning is proposed for space-division multiplexing elastic optical path networks (SDM-EONs). The algorithm introduces two metrics that measure the spare capacity of the network in terms of the inter-core crosstalk in multi-core fibers and the efficiency of spectrum resource utilization. Numerical simulations indicate that it can enhance the network capacity by up to 46.8% and 10.4%, compared with two conventional schemes.
