Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The present study aimed to develop a method to appropriately evaluate mother?child interaction to support communication between mothers and their children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). A mother of a boy aged 5 years and 9 months who has ASD attended a lecture on the humanitude care methodology that was revised for the nurturing situation. Two videos of free play between the mother and the child were analyzed; one video was taken prior to the intervention, and the other was taken after the intervention and feedback. Actions and responses by the mother and the child during the videos were identified, and each was coded in terms of multimodality. The results showed that both the mother and the child increased the number of actions and responses after the intervention, especially those involving touch, and that the child increased those involving vocalization. The effectiveness of the proposed analytical method is discussed.
