Abstract(in English) | Communications on not only man-to-man but also man-to-machine and machine-to-machine beyond time and space are becoming essential and significantly extended with the progress of hardware and software technologies on information processing including the recent advance on AI, AR, and IoT. Networking technologies have progressed to adapt to the extension of communication models and styles, for sharing a limited network resources among multiple diverse communication activities while maintaining the quality of each communication. In the physical layer, signal processing techniques efficiently transport a bit sequence on a bit-error prone link with less bandwidth. However, the goal of communications is to share some information semantics among multiple users. Routing, scheduling, information coding have been studied. In particular, multi-path routing, network coding, and CDN opened up a potential for one-to-one/-many transportation of information. On the other hand, insufficient link bandwidth for data deluge in sensor networks motivated the advance of information compression in one-/many-to-one networking. However, the quantity of necessary information to share the semantics depends on the context of the sender and recipient. In this talk, we review a few examples of networks considering to transport not a bit sequence but information and its semantics, and discuss the necessity and feasibility of a collaboration between network users and a network provider in order to efficiently realize the communications in the future. |
