Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In wireless LAN (WLAN) after IEEE 802.11n, two-level frame aggregation (FA) is introduced in the MAC (media access control) layer to improve throughput performance. So, it is important to set the number of Aggregate MAC Service Data Unit (A-MSDU) and Aggregate MAC Protocol Data Unit (A-MPDU) sub-frames properly under the parameter values defined by the IEEE 802.11 standard such as transmission frame sizes. Though the conventional scheme, which determines the number of sub-frames to maximize the theoretical throughput for 802.11n, could achieve good throughput performance, maximum throughput cannot be obtained with standards such as 802.11ac, which have a very large upper limit of A-MPDU size. In this technical report, we derive theoretical throughput expression with consideration of the bit error of the whole transmission frame including A-MPDU, and propose a scheme to obtain the optimal set of sub-frames based on a full search that maximizes the theoretical throughput under the 802.11ac standard. The validity of the proposed scheme is shown using theoretical analysis and computer simulations. Although the proposed scheme has the amount of calculation increases, the throughput performance using the proposed scheme can be significantly improved as compared with the conventional scheme.
