Link Design and Received Power Measurement of 5-GHz Band Wi-Fi Backscatter System Using a Miniaturized Antenna Module

Abstract(in English) We have proposed and investigated 5GHz-band wireless-LAN based simple beamforming wireless IoT communication system with Wi-Fi backscatter communication for beam tracking. In this system, an access point (AP) is assumed to be placed on the base of machine tool or robot in the factory and a sensor node (SN) is assumed to be put on the moving/rotating tool or the arm of the robot. In this paper, a miniaturized antenna module for Wi-Fi backscatter SN is designed and fabricated. The link design and the received Wi-Fi backscatter power measurement are carried out using fabricated antenna module. The measured result is in good agreement with link design and the design result shows that the maximum communication distance between AP and SN is 2.7 m under the condition of 17 dBm transmit power (CW) from AP and -80 dBm sensitivity of AP’s receiver.
