Abstract(in English) A series-connected harmonic-tuned GaN HEMT Doherty amplifier (DA) has been developed for directly exciting a loop antenna that generates orbital angular momentum (OAM) wave. Since the loop antenna is excited in a balanced-mode, it is expected that the loop antenna can be used as an output combine circuit instead of a balun used in the series-connected DA. For a large-capacity communication, the DA was designed so that efficiency at a back-off power level that was set to obtain a wider dynamic power range was improved, based on a proposed quarter-wave transformer less DA design and a harmonic treatment design. The fabricated DA achieved a maximum drain efficiency of 53% and a maximum power-added efficiency (PAE) of 45% with a saturation output power of 36.5 dBm. Furthermore, at an output back-off of 10 dB, the drain efficiency was 38% and the PAE was 34%.
