Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | To establish a virtual dedicated channel for area owner's wireless local area network (WLAN) systems, a virtual dedicated channel scheme using periodic medium reservation has been proposed. In the scheme, guard stations spatially distributed in the private space send network allocation vector (NAV) frames periodically. Since the periodic NAV frames notify the medium reservation period to the visitor's BSS (Basic Service Set), the visitor's BSSs that overhear NAV frames defer the access to the medium, and the area owner's BSS can occupy a certain amount of radio resources. In the conventional scheme, the guard stations notify the medium reservation so as to create the virtual dedicated channel as wide as possible. However, when the required area for ensure the performance of area owner's BSS is narrower than the private space, the excessive medium reservation will degrade the spatial spectrum efficiency. As a countermeasure against this problem, this paper proposes a dynamic medium reservation area control scheme. In the proposed scheme, according to the position of visitor's BSS,the guard stations sending the NAV frames are dynamically controlled. Since the limited numbers of guard stations operate to notify NAV frames, the spectrum efficiency will be improved by the proposed scheme. |
