Abstract(in English) | Recently, {em global warming} has become the major concern around the world as the serious risk of sustainable societies. The proper use of an {em air conditioner (AC)} is important to reduce this risk. It is also essential to avoid heatstroke of seniors in hot summers. Previously, we have studied the {em air-conditioning guidance system (AC-Guide)} to encourage the proper use of AC. Using {em Raspberry Pi}, the {em AC-Guide} periodically samples the temperature and humidity of the target room to calculate the {em discomfort index (DI)}, and sends messages of requesting turning off the AC to users if the {em indoor DI} is in the comfortable range. However, it may send false messages, since it does not consider the outside condition. Besides, it does not send messages of requesting turning on the AC when the DI is out of the comfortable range. In this study, we improve the {em AC-Guide} in including turn-on messages and in avoiding false messages by considering the {em outdoor DI}. The outdoor DI is calculated from the weather data obtained from an API called {em openweathermapAPI}. We implement the improvements of the {em AC-Guide} and verify the effectiveness through simulations and applications in two rooms at Okayama University. |
