Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A psychophysical space is a space of physical stimuli in which the JND (Just-Noticeable-Difference) discrimination threshold data are available everywhere. Important applications of this Riemann space have been found in color science and expression recognition recently. A map between Riemann spaces called isometry or a distance-preserving map played an essential role in these applications. However, algorithms to compute such a map need solution of nonlinear equations which demands a large number of JND threshold data, can only obtain an isometry in a special form, without uniqueness of the solution and difficult to apply to dimensions higher than three. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm to compute a local isometry between Riemann spaces and psychophysical spaces in particular. We only use JND threshold data more than the dimension of the space without Riemann metric tensor by solving a linear equation system which can achieve uniqueness ofthe solution and statistical and numerical stability comparing with the known method. We then apply the proposed algorithm to shown examples for comparison and exchange between expression perceptions of different observers.
