[Special Invited Talk] Capture and Transparency in Perceptual Image Quality Assessment

抄録(和) Perceptual image and video quality assessment (QA) algorithms aim to estimate the quality of an image/video in a manner that agrees with judgments made by human observers. QA algorithms and their underlying quality-related perceptual factors have served to provide crucial diagnostic information for optimizing the compression and transmission parameters in visual communication systems. In this talk, I will discuss one important example of a quality-based perceptual factor that deals with the extent to which the distortions are visually merged with the image (i.e., are viewed as part of the image). These percepts have been termed "transparency" and "capture," and they could provide important insights for improving the estimation of perceived quality. I will specifically discuss how capture vs. transparency can possible be estimated via the use of local magnitude and phase analysis.
