Abstract(in English) | The efficiency of a magnetic resonant type wireless power transfer is affected not only by the loss due to the parasitic resistance associated with the coils of the transmitter and receiver circuits, but also by the impedance matching between the transfer circuit and power supply or load resistance. Therefore, it is observed that the transmission efficiency is greatly degraded from the theoretical maximum efficiency when the distance between the transmitter and receiver circuits changes. To solve this problem, we have proposed the adoption of the SP-PS circuit configuration. By using the SP-PS circuit, one can match the impedance by appropriately selecting the capacitance ratio of the series and parallel connected capacitors, and always maintain the theoretical maximum efficiency. In this presentation, we propose an automatic control method for maximizing the efficiency by changing the capacitance ratio based on the estimated coupling coefficient between the transmitting and receiving coils. The coupling coefficient is estimated by monitoring the terminal voltage on the transmitter side of the SP-PS circuit. A circuit using a MOS switch to change the capacitance ratio is prototyped and evaluated, and the possibility of the proposed automatic efficiency control is clarified. |
