Fundamental Study on Side-Channel Attacks on Radio Communication ICs

Abstract(in English) Radio waves emitted by the radio communication ICs may include some internal information of the ICs, and attackers can observe and analyze the radio waves for obtaining secret information. We call such attacks radio side-channel attacks. This paper evaluate effectiveness of single trace side-channel attacks on an elliptic curve Diffie-Hellman key exchange implementation installed on a Bluetooth low energy IC, and points out that the side-channel information are included not only in the amplitude-time traces, but also frequency-time traces.
