Study of HEMS for Smart Home Appliances and Devices in DC-based Nanogrid

Abstract(in English) Nowadays, DC-based Nanogrid is a promising future trend because of home appliances and devices tend to be shiftable to efficiently save the energy consumption. One of main concerned problems in DC-based Nanogrid is that the DC-DC conversion loss according to the multilevel voltage conversion. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel 4-level DC (4LDC) home energy management system (HEMS) that considers the minimum loss of the DC-DC conversion by introducing another low voltage conversion level. The simulation results reveal that the proposed 4LDC HEMS provides the efficiency of energy conversion is about 96% and gains about 16.83% more efficient compared to the 3LDC HEMS.
