Evaluation of Speed Perception of Real Image Type and CG Type Driving Simulators Taking into Account Steering Operation

Abstract(in English) In general driving simulators (DS) constructed with CG, there is a concern that there is a gap with real driving due to low visual reality. However, there has not been much discussion or analysis on this issue. Therefore, in this study, we compared the speed sensation of straight-running / meandering running between the real video type DS and the CG type DS, and analyzed the gap with the real driving. As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that the CG type DS tended to feel faster than the original speed in straight running.
