Conjunctive Representation of Position and Magnitude in an expansion of Continuous Attractor Networks

Abstract(in English) Continuous Attractor Neural Networks are often used as models of working memory where they store information through their position in a continuous state-space. While many neurophysiological findings support information representation as the location of firing in a neural manifold, results in vectorial representations in the brain have shown firing rate magnitude can also be important. We present a model that extends on a continuous attractor network model. It is capable of representing both position and magnitude through the reversible collapse of continuous attractor dynamics into a point attractor representing the convolution of input and neural weights. The resulting model can represent both location and magnitude information while exhibiting good noise rejection behaviours.
