Route Construction Method Based on Traffic Load for Cellular-assisted MANET

Abstract(in English) MANET (Mobile ad-hoc network) forms an autonomous decentralized network by using wireless nodes. In MANET, some reactive routing protocols, which perform request packet flooding to discover a route, have been proposed. However, they consume many network resources due to the network-wide request packet flooding when the route construction. To solve the issue, we have proposed a cellular-assisted ad-hoc networking architecture to make a virtual area to restrict the flooding area. However, this architecture may cause uneven traffic load distribution since its area restriction algorithm prioritizes a neighboring area of a node having many neighboring nodes to make a virtual area. This paper proposes a route construction method to balance the traffic load among nodes for the cellular-assisted ad-hoc networking architecture. This paper also evaluates the performance of the proposed method in comparison with a traditional routing protocol using computer simulations.
