Abstract(in English) When a fault happens in large scale carrier network, not only alarms from failing equipment (root cause alarm) are generated, but also many alarms from corresponding equipment (false alarm) are generated. To recover the fault, it is necessary to identify the root cause alarm from massive number of alarms including false alarms. This process requires knowledge of network topology surrounding the faulty network equipment, experience of alarm patterns depending the fault pattern, and workload of skilled operator proportional to the amount of alarms. This paper proposes an improved method for precise alarm correlation of root cause alarm and corresponding false alarms. The new algorithm enhances rule based alarm correlation method, that is widely common in commercial event processing engine, by referring network topology and apply graphical analysis when rules are processed to correlate alarms into a group of root cause alarm and corresponding false alarms.
