Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Approximate Computing (AC) is an energy reduction technique with approximate calculation. In the field of image processing, some error may not affect the recognition. Memorization is an AC method that saves calculation result and uses it instead of correct calculation. While memorization can maintain image quality, it needs a lot of hardware resources. This paper proposes an AC technique for the edge detection to save only latest results. We also show the case that decreased image quality can be recovered by Morphological transformations. This approach reduces necessary hardware resources.
