Image Tampering Detection and Self-Recovery by Using Robust Digital Watermark against JPEG Compression

Abstract(in English) Recently, with the tremendous diffuser of smartphones, the SNS users rate has increased to 74.7 %in 2018. Users can easily send and receive the various images via the Internet such as SNS. In addition, imageprocessing technology has been developed, making it possible to easily process images. On the other hand, withthe development of image processing technology, images are often tampered by malicious users to be different fromthe facts and spread on SNS, which is a social problem. Digital watermark, which is a method to solve such the problems, has attracted attention. This method embeds a digital watermark directly in the image, and the receiver side extracts the digital watermark from the tampered image, which is used as a method of tamper detection and recovery of the tampered image. However, this method does not support the image format JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) often used in SNS, and converting an image which is embedded digital watermark to JPEG breaks the digital watermark and does not work well. In this report, we propose the method of tampering detection and self-recovery by using robust digital watermark against JPEG compression, and evaluate its performance by software simulation.
