A Performance Evaluation on Effects of Propagation Delay Difference in a Base-Station-Cooperative System

Abstract(in English) Cell-free massive MIMO is paid attention to for the post-5G (or 6G) cellular system. It is expected to increase user data rate by cooperation of massive distributed base station antennas. It is concerned, however, that some transmission reception points (TRPs) in far distance may process the data of identical user equipment (UE), or that the distance may be long between an TRP and UE. In this paper, performance evaluations were executed with consideration of propagation delay difference and reception power difference. It is clarified that, in some environments, performance of signal-to-noise ratio versus block error rate is degraded severely when the propagation delay difference is longer than the cyclic prefix length.
