Performance Evaluation on Heuristic Route Control for Vehicle APs for Pedestrians

Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose two route control methods for vehicle APs that improve the overall communication quality of pedestrians by controlling the routes of a large number of vehicles that pass continuously using the traveling vehicle as a mobile AP for high-speed wireless LAN. The proposed methods improve the average throughput and communication unavailable time of all users by controlling the route to make the car slightly detour within a range (allowable distance) somewhat longer than the shortest route. The two proposed route control methods are a "cooperative selection method" that adaptively controls considering pedestrians and other vehicles, and a "simple selection method" that statically controls considering only pedestrians. We evaluated how the proposed route control method improved the average throughput and communication unavailable time in a grid road model. As a result of our simulation, the average throughput is improved by 380% and communication unavailable time is reduced 14%, compared with the shortest route.
