A Study on Prediction of Environmental Value and Transmission Power Control in WLAN

Abstract(in English) Wireless local area networks (WLAN) are widely spread over office and home for supporting various applications. In recent years, with the spread of mobile routers and the like, opportunities for multiple WLAN systems consisting of an AP and terminals to approach each other are increasing. They usually communicate on different channels. However, since the number of channels is limited, they have to share the same channel, causing interference between systems. In this paper, we define the environmental value by scoring the throughput and fairness of our system and the other system. In addition, its value is predicted autonomously from some information that our system can observe. For prediction, a random forest, one of supervised learning, is used. We also propose a method for autonomously switching to power that maximizes environmental value based on the constructed prediction model.
