Millimeter-Wave Radio Channel Sounder using Analog Beamformers

Abstract(in English) As various wireless systems using millimeter-wave bands, such as 5G mobile communication and WiGig ultra-high-speed wireless LAN, have been deployed, the demand for more accurate channel models is increasing. In this study, we developed a new radio channel sounder that improved the existing system based on the antenna rotation method using a commercially available radio front-end capable of high-speed beam steering by an analog beamformer. In this paper, the hardware configuration, signal processing, beam steering control, calibration method, etc. of the developed system are introduced in detail, and the test results of double-directional channel measurements in the laboratory are reported.
