Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have developed a gesture interface for people with motor dysfunction using the RGB-D camera. The interface has nine modules to recognize various types of gestures; four of nine modules require the information of the head position. Some texture-based methods used for face/head recognition. However, there are difficult cases in which applying these methods to persons with motor disability because some medical equipment cover them texture. In this paper, we explain an estimation method of human body and head position from 3D point cloud data without texture information and describe the investigation of the effectiveness of the method in actual data on patients with motor disability.
