Abstract(in English) | Ultra-dense radio access network (RAN) consisting of a large number of distributed antennas is considered to be able to improve both the coverage and the capacity in 5G advanced systems. The computational complexity of multi-user multi-input multi-output (MU-MIMO) is very high when accommodating a large number of users. Using user or antenna-based clustering, the original large-scale MIMO channel matrix is decomposed into small-scale MIMO channel matrices. Then, small-scale multi-user MIMO is performed in each cluster. When allocating the same frequency resource to all clusters, severe inter-cluster interference (ICI) is produced. To reduce the ICI, antenna-user association is important. In this paper, we propose two clustering methods using K-Means algorithm and an antenna-user association method based on the clustering result. Assuming Zero-Forcing (ZF) based MU-MIMO, we evaluate by computer simulation the achievable link capacity and the required computational complexity. We discuss the impacts of the number of clusters and various propagation environments (e.g. pathloss only, pathloss+shadowing, and pathloss+shadowing+fading) on the link capacity and also a trade-off between link capacity and computational complexity. |
