Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | A Web-based Java Programming Learning Assistant System (JPLAS) offers the element fill-in-blank problem (EFP) for novice students to study Java grammar and basic programming skills. By applying the blank element selection algorithm, a large number of to choose a proper EFP instance for each student to solve next, the recommendation function has been proposed, which increases or decreases the difficulty level depending on the solving performance in previous instances. However, it does not consider the coverage of Java programming topics in the solved instances. In this paper, we extend the recommendation function to consider the Java topic coverage in the solved instances. For evaluations, EFP instances using source codes for graph theory algorithms are generated as harder EFP instances with longer codes and are applied to students who studied Java programming and takes the graph theory course in Okayama University. |
