Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Visual information affects taste perception. However, it has been unclear how visual information indirectly reflects the characteristics of the food or drink perception. In this study, we focused on the facial expressions for those two kinds of taste-related expressions. we experimented to confirm whether there are some relations between taste perception and modulated expressions. As a result, we found that the modulated sour and bitter expressions increased the intensity of sour and bitter tastes, suggesting that the taste-related expressions can crossmodally modulate the taste perception.
