Comparison of Shadowing Ratio of Ka-band Mobile Satellite Communication in 40 Major Cities, Japan

Abstract(in English) National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) developed a mobile earth station for Ka-band, that can communicate while in moving. In the urban area, however, the mobile earth station cannot be communicated with satellite due to buildings, etc. If possible, pre-shadowing area previously calculated, it is desirable to reflect the results when the earth station operation. Therefore, we estimated the shadowing ratio of Ka band in 40 major cities using GIS based on Sendai analysis result. In this paper, we report the provisional results.
