Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) People sometimes do not make requests directly. Instead, for example, the utterance “This room is cold” may attempt to convey the meaning of the request “Close the window”. The bias to request interpretations may be produced by the learning process for social feedback from the speaker. In this study, participants performed a learning task using social reward or social punishment as feedback. The learning rates were estimated from the behavior data by Q learning model. The results showed that individuals with higher learning rates in learning tasks based on social punishment were biased in the meaning of indirect requests.
