Abstract(in English) | A photoconductive antenna has been investigated as a way to emit terahertz waves.Using the finite- difference time-domain (FDTD) method, the structure can be modeled with a current injection technique and the frequency characteristics can be obtained by a one-time solution.However, the conventional FDTD analysis requires a large amount of memory and computation time, since the photoconductive antenna has a large Si lens.The purpose of this article is to improve the computational efficiency of the FDTD analysis for the photoconductive antenna.To do so, we use the FDTD method with the subgrid technique.First, we analyze the photoconductive antenna with a small Si lens using the conventional FDTD method and the FDTD method with the subgrid technique.It is shown that the results are almost identical to each other.The memory and computation time of the subgrid technique are respectively reduced by about 70% and 60%, showing a significant improvement of the computational efficiency.Next, we analyze a photoconductive antenna with a larger Si lens.It is shown that the peak frequency shifts to the low frequency side, as the dipole length is increased. |
