Abstract(in English) | In millimeter-wave (mmWave) communications, link quality is decreased seriously when a line-of-sight (LOS) path is blocked by human bodies while its large bandwidth enables multi-Gbit/s transmission rates. In order to solve this degradation problem, a vision-assisted proactive network control scheme and a link quality prediction scheme have been proposed. However, the bit-rate needs to be controlled predictively in order to avoid high packet loss rates in a situation crowded with people. This paper proposes the proactive MCS Index prediction scheme for controlling the bit-rate predictively. Specifically, a deep neural network learns the relationship between measured depth images and MCS Index corresponding to the received power in several hundred milliseconds ahead of the time at which the depth images are obtained. Then, a future MCS Index can be directly predicted from depth images. The experimental results show that the proposed scheme reduces the outage probability and improves the average throughput in the proactive bit-rate control based on the predicted MCS Index. |
